Kembali 08 Mei 2025 | Berita BAPETEN | 36 lihatThe Directorate of Licensing of Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Materials (DPFRZR) of the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN) conducted a field evaluation on May 5–6, 2025, at PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya. This evaluation concerned the application for a permit to use two Electron Linear Accelerator (Linac) units for cargo and/or container inspection on export-import routes, which utilize ionizing radiation sources.
The event was opened by Asep Saefulloh Hermawan, Director of DPFRZR BAPETEN, and the team was led by BAPETEN Deputy Chairman for Licensing and Inspection, Zainal Arifin, as the leader of the field evaluation team. He was accompanied by Grace Esterina, the BAPETEN Research and Industrial Facilities Licensing Function Group Lead. There were also radiation supervisors from BAPETEN, including Muhammad Dradjat Kurniawan, Nugraha Dwi Santosa, and Muttaqin Margo Nirwono, on the evaluation team.
The entry meeting presented material related to licensing requirements and follow-up on the results of the previous document evaluation. The meeting was also attended by representatives from PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya, PT PELINDO, Customs and Excise, PT Mitrabuana Widyasakti, and relevant technical staff.
The BAPETEN team conducted a comprehensive inspection, including verification of technical documents, radiation exposure and dose rate measurements, radiation safety system testing, vehicle irradiation simulations, and personnel competency tests.
This evaluation is part of the mandate of Law Number 10 of 1997 on Nuclear Energy, specifically regarding licensing obligations for the use of ionizing radiation sources that ensure safety, security, and environmental protection.
The event concluded with BAPETEN expressing its appreciation for PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya's readiness and cooperation. The evaluation resulted in several technical recommendations to complete the licensing requirements so that the process can continue smoothly.
