The BAPETEN team, led by Haendra Subekti, Deputy Chairman for Nuclear Safety Assessment, discussed several strategic aspects related to regional safety and infrastructure readiness, including the potential for new energy development, regional spatial planning, and safe and sustainable natural resource management. BAPETEN explained the basic principles of nuclear safety through the analogy of a cooling and heat condensation system, illustrating how modern nuclear technology operates with high safety standards and strict risk controls.

The Regent of West Bangka, Markus, warmly welcomed the visit and stated that the West Bangka Regency Government is open to dialogue on the use of technology, including clean energy, as long as the entire process prioritizes the principles of safety and public information transparency.

"We support the strategic steps taken by the central government, including BAPETEN, to provide a proper understanding of nuclear technology. However, public safety remains the top priority," said Markus.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Chairman for Nuclear Safety Assessment emphasized that this visit is part of efforts to strengthen synergy between the central and regional governments. "BAPETEN is committed to ensuring that every activity involving nuclear technology is strictly supervised to guarantee its safety for the public and the environment. Dialogues like this are essential to build a shared understanding of safety,” Haendra said.

The meeting took place in a warm and open atmosphere. Attendees from BAPETEN included Indra Gunawan, Head of the Organizational and General Affairs Bureau; Anggoro Septilarso, Manager of the Non-Power Reactor Assessment Function Group; and Rahmat Edhi Harianto, Associate Expert Radiation Supervisor. Attendees from the West Bangka Regency Government included the Head of the Regional Financial Management Agency, Abimayu; Safrisal Chandra, Head of the Environment Agency; Novianto, Head of the Public Works and Public Housing Agency; and Amar, Head of Spatial Planning.
