Kembali 07 Februari 2024 | Berita BAPETENBAPETEN conducted a Convention Exercise (ConvEx)-2e with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at the BAPETEN Emergency Response Room, which was attended by representatives of various work units at BAPETEN including the Directorate of Technical Support and Nuclear Emergency Preparedness (DKKN); Center for Regulatory Assessment of Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Materials (P2STPFRZR); Directorate of Inspection of Radioactive Facilities and Radioactive Materials (DIFRZR); and Bureau of Legal Affairs, Cooperation and Public Communication (BHKK) who work together in completing various stages of the existing exercise, from reporting events, calculating radiological impacts, to delivering communication to the public.
The IAEA's ConvEx exercise consists of three levels: ConvEx-1, ConvEx-2 and ConvEx-3. Exercise ConvEx-1 is designed to test emergency communication channels with contact centers in member states that must be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and to test the response time of those contact centers; Exercise ConvEx-2 is designed to test specific parts of the international framework for emergency preparedness and response, for example, to practice the use of appropriate communication procedures, rehearse international assistance procedures and test the arrangements and tools used for assessment and forecasting in a nuclear or radiological emergency; and Exercise ConvEx-3 is a large-scale exercise designed to evaluate international emergency response arrangements and capabilities in severe nuclear or radiological emergencies over several days, regardless of cause.
In his closing remarks, the Director of DKKN BAPETEN, Zulkarnain expressed his expectation that the results of the ConvEx exercise could serve as feedback in improving the nuclear/radiological emergency management procedures that have been prepared to ensure an effective response to emergencies.[BHKK/OR/AQ- Translate CD]
