In order to provide convenience and expedite Risk-Based Business Licensing in the nuclear sector, the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN), in collaboration with the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC), Ministry of Finance, organized the Accelerated Licensing Services for the Utilization of Nuclear Energy from 7 to 10 October 2025 at the Training Center Building of the Ministry of Finance, Denpasar, Bali.

This activity is a follow-up to the findings of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK RI) regarding several baggage scanning devices that have not yet obtained licenses for the utilization of nuclear energy. These devices are used by the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) in various regions across Indonesia as part of the goods traffic control system to prevent the entry of prohibited items and smuggling practices.

In addition to providing on-site accelerated licensing services, the activity also included technical guidance on the preparation of documents and fulfillment of licensing requirements for DJBC personnel. The training focused on the technical aspects of licensing for the utilization of baggage scanning equipment that uses ionizing radiation sources, ensuring that the licensing process becomes more effective and well-targeted.

Participants of the activity came from various DJBC regional offices across Indonesia, including:

  • DJBC Regional Office of Maluku
  • KPPBC TMP C (Customs and Excise Main Service Office Type C) Jayapura
  • KPPBC (Customs and Excise Supervision and Service Office)Makassar
  • KPUBC (Customs and Excise Main Service Office) Type A Tanjung Priok
  • KPPBC TMP C Manado
  • KPPBC TMP B Banjarmasin
  • DJBC Regional Office of West Kalimantan
  • Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation, DJBC
  • KPUBC Soekarno–Hatta
  • DJBC Headquarters, Jakarta

Through this service, BAPETEN processed and issued licenses for the utilization of nuclear energy directly at the event location, following the submission of required documents and the payment of non-tax state revenue (PNBP) by DJBC applicants.

This initiative demonstrates BAPETEN’s commitment to continuously supporting the improvement of efficiency and compliance in nuclear licensing, while strengthening inter-agency synergy in overseeing the utilization of ionizing radiation sources in Indonesia. [DPFRZR/Supriatno/BHKK/SP]
