The event began with opening remarks from the Secretary of State, Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) of The Kingdom of Cambodia and ASEANTOM Personchair Chan Shodavhat who said this meeting was aimed at increasing nuclear safety, security and protection in the ASEAN region. "Utilization of nuclear research and technology must be oriented towards peaceful purpose and sustainable development," he added.

Furthermore, remarks from the Director Division of Nuclear Security IAEA Elena Biglova thanked ASEANTOM member countries for attending this annual meeting.

Then a presentation from Program Management Officer IAEA Petra Salame who discussed the development of the RAS/9/094 project regarding nuclear emergency response preparedness support in the 2022-2025 period.

This meeting will be held online on the 8th, 10th and 11th of August 2022. The meeting was attended by Plt. Chairman of BAPETEN Sugeng Sumbarjo, Deputy Chairman for Licensing and Inspection Zainal Arifin, Deputy Chairman for Nuclear Safety Assessment Dahlia Cakrawati Sinaga and related officials.

This meeting has important and strategic significance for Indonesia, especially BAPETEN in taking and determining roles at the regional level in the framework of cooperation between ASEAN communities in the field of nuclear energy supervising to ensure safety and security together. (BHKK/Cd/Da/RA)
